Shipping ice cream is tricky business! Frozen shipments cannot be in transit over the weekend, so the destination, shipping method and day & time of checkout all impact when your order will arrive.

We estimate that your order will arrive within 1-5 business days from the day that we receive your order. Please allow 1-4 days of processing before your order ships. We're working as fast as we can to fulfill every order. You will receive an email with tracking information upon shipment. Thanks so much for your patience and support! 

• Orders placed to residential addresses can arrive on Saturdays. We cannot schedule Saturday deliveries to commercial addresses.
• We cannot ship on Friday, Saturday or Sunday.
• We cannot ship to PO Boxes.

We ship our ice creams inside an insulated frozen shipper box, packed with dry ice to ensure your purchase arrives at its destination in perfect condition, within the time frame it's supposed to arrive. 

We offer the following shipping methods to the lower 48 states:

GROUND: $19.00 flat rate PER BOX OF 9 PINTS. Orders should arrive within 1-3 business days of shipment. 

STANDARD OVERNIGHT: $99.99 flat rate PER BOX OF 9 PINTS. Orders arrive within 1 business day of shipment.

McC’s delivers the goods right to your doorstep (or workplace, significant other(s), mommy…) via UPS. We ship our ice creams inside an insulated frozen shipper box, packed with dry ice to ensure your purchase arrives at its destination in perfect condition, within the time frame it's supposed to arrive. Please note that dry ice is exceptionally cold (-109.3°F). With each box, we include specific instructions to provide for safe handling and disposal of any remaining dry ice.We currently ship throughout the "lower 48" of the United States via UPS Ground (which delivers in 1-3 days) or Overnight,  and Hawaii via Overnight. Unfortunately, at this time, we're not able to ship internationally.

All non-frozen goods, including Merchandise, Apparel and Scoop Shop Gift Cards, are shipped separately and FREE OF CHARGE via United States Postal Service (USPS). They will arrive within 7-14 days of your order. 

If your order experiences a delay in transit that affects the quality of your ice cream delivery, we will reship your order and do our best to make it right. If possible please send photos of the damaged product to info@mcconnells.com, so that we can file a claim with the carrier on your behalf.

All of our ice creams start out gluten-free, and the majority of them stay that way, save for the few that have cookies, pie pieces, or any other wheat-based inclusion added to them. Please see our Nutritional Labels above. Items that are Gluten-Free are labeled "Gluten-Free" underneath the ingredient deck. Our Dairy-Free Frozen Desserts are fully gluten-free.

*Please note that all our ice creams are produced in a facility that also makes products that contain milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, soy, and wheat.

McConnell's is a working dairy, however, we are exclusively a dairy processing facility. The Old Dairy exited the dairy farming business in the 1960's, when land values on the Central Coast skyrocketed and it was no longer feasible to manage a herd. Since that time, McConnell's has sourced our milk & cream from dairy farms based in Central California.

Most of the purveyors we source from belong to leading fair trade and sustainability organizations. Guittard Chocolate Company, for example, is a member of the World Cocoa Foundation, the Rainforest Alliance, and Fair Trade.

Organics are a separate matter. At McConnell's, we have one goal: to make the world's finest ice creams. This demands exceptionally high standards for every ingredient. Our milk and cream come from cows raised by local dairy co-ops on the Central Coast and in California's Central Valley — grass- and forage-fed, and free of hormones and antibiotics.

We support organics, but in our 75-plus history, we've found that milk and cream quality varies widely regardless of whether it's organic or conventional. Consistency depends on feed, animal husbandry, and processing - not on a label. Organic describes a process, not a guarantee of quality; there is excellent and mediocre milk, fruit, nuts, and chocolate in both categories.

Organic certification matters to us, but quality comes first. At McConnell's, anything less than the finest ice cream is unacceptable.

Yes, we have a handful of seasonally-specific flavors, in addition to partnering throughout the year with local farms, artisans, and purveyors to make limited edition flavors. Please visit our online store and our McC's scoop shops, and follow our social media to stay abreast of the latest and greatest.

To get the most flavor out of your ice cream, let it soften slightly before eating — this is called tempering. Ice cream tastes best when it's not too cold, because extreme cold actually dulls flavor. Just a few minutes of warming lets those flavors come through fully, making every bite more enjoyable.

Simply set your ice cream on the counter for a few minutes before serving. Your taste buds will thank you. And one request: please don't use the microwave. We promise it's worth the wait.

Officially, we list the recommended shelf life of our McConnell's Fine Ice Creams' pints at fifteen months from the date of manufacture that appears on the underside of all McC's pints. The density of our ice creams - they contain very little air - allows for a lengthy and effective shelf life.

All our ice creams and sorbets packed in pints are certified Kosher, with the exception of our McConnell's/See’s Candies collaborative flavors (Vanilla with California Brittle, Coffee with Molasses Chips, Chocolate with Polar Bear Paws, Banana Cream with Toffee‑ettes, Brown Sugar with Milk Bordeaux, PB&J with Peanut Butter Patties, and Strawberry with Strawberry Creams).

Pint of the Month Club ships on the 3rd Monday of each month, and arrives on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday of that week, depending on the delivery location. Please email us at info@mcconnells.com to find out if your location is a a 1, 2 or 3 day delivery.

Orders placed on or before the 5th of each month will start shipping that month. Orders placed after the 5th will ship the following month. So if you place your order on December 5th, 2022, your order will ship the week of December 19th (the 3rd week of Dec.), and arrive on December 21st, 22nd or 23rd, depending on your location. If you order on Dec. 6th, your order will ship the following month, the week of, January 16, 2023.

To send as a gift, please make sure to enter the recipients shipping address at checkout, and add a gift note, so they know who to thank! If you'd like them to get the monthly reminder/ flavor email as well, please enter their email in the "recipient email" field above. Because your email is linked to the order by default, you will get the monthly order confirmation & tracking updates. You'll likely want to forward the tracking to the recipient. We apologize that we can't automatically send tracking to the recipient at this time.

Yes, shipping and handling is included in the one-time price of the subscription.

No, you will be charged a one-time, upfront charge which covers the ice cream and the shipping, for the entire length of the subscription.

While we aren't able to ship outside our normal Pint Club shipping timeframe (the 3rd week of each month), we can absolutely skip shipments until you're ready to receive the next one. Please email us at info@mcconnells.com to arrange that, and please let us know by the Friday before the upcoming shipment day.

Unfortunately, no. We make the Pint of the Month Club special pints each month depending on the amount of subscribers, so we're not able to accommodate flavor requests. Please keep that in mind if there are any food allergies

At McConnell's, we're obsessed with all things ice cream. From the making of our ice creams to the serving of our ice creams, to our wonderful customers. While franchising can provide a great opportunity for growth, for us, expansion is secondary to providing the unique, McConnell's experience. To deliver that experience, we feel we must closely manage every aspect of our scoop shops, from design to the customer experience. For this reason, we own and operate, rather than franchise our McConnell's scoop shops.

First, let us apologize for the sub-par pint you purchased. McConnell’s Fine Ice Creams should never come to you in that condition. It sounds like you may have purchased a pint that was affected by freezer burn. This is a condition that can sometimes occur when ice cream is allowed to melt and then re-freeze again. While we are confident that our ice creams leave the Dairy in perfect condition, occasionally during transport or once inside store freezers (where freezer doors open and close, letting in warm air), this can happen. If you are unsatisfied with your purchase, please email us at info@mcconnells.com and let us know. We promise to make it right.

While nothing would make us happier than to have our customers pay us a visit us at our production facility, we are a working dairy, and that fact alone, unfortunately, makes tours not possible. Like other food manufacturers, we are, beyond the products we make, first and foremost in the business of food safety. Properly set-up and maintained food production environments adhere to all manner of food safety issues and health codes to ensure the products they produce are safe for consumption.

To effectively maintain the safety of our products and the production environment, it is critical that we allow only our staff to enter the dairy floor. We welcome you to visit our flagship scoop shop at 728 State Street in Santa Barbara, where you'll find a wealth of historical information about McC’s. It's the next best thing to a tour!

Yes! Our single-serves are available in select grocery store locations. 

There are always new things happening here at McConnell's, including the development of delicious new flavors for our scoop shops and pints sold at grocery stores. Unfortunately, The Dairy can only produce so many ice cream flavors at once. In order to keep innovating, we have to send some of our line-up - even some of our classic flavors - on temporary vacation. Rest assured that most of your favorites will, in time, return to the McC’s line-up.

As much as we would like to honor all donation requests, McConnell's receives far more inquiries and requests for donations than we can support. We love sharing our ice creams with the world, and we wish we could say “yes” to all the requests! But unfortunately, it’s just not possible.

We’ve decided that we can provide the most impact by focusing our donation efforts, and so we have partnered long- term with an organization local to our headquarters in Santa Barbara—Explore Ecology’s School Garden Program.
